Meta Announces Paid Plans for Instagram and WhatsApp

Meta has officially introduced new subscription plans for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. While the apps will continue to remain free for normal users, some premium features may now require a monthly subscription.

According to reports, Meta is planning to launch “Plus” versions of its apps with additional features and customization options for users who want an upgraded experience.

What Will Remain Free?

• Normal chatting and calling on WhatsApp
• Posting photos and reels on Instagram
• Using Facebook basic features
• Standard messaging and social media access

Premium Features Expected

Instagram Plus:
• Advanced profile customization
• Extra story visibility tools
• Anonymous story viewing
• More audience controls

WhatsApp Plus:
• Custom themes and icons
• Extra pinned chats
• Premium stickers
• Advanced chat organization tools

Subscription Pricing

The expected pricing may start from:

• Instagram Plus – $3.99/month
• Facebook Plus – $3.99/month
• WhatsApp Plus – $2.99/month

Meta has also announced premium AI plans that may include advanced AI tools, image generation, and smart assistant features.

At present, these subscriptions are optional and users can still continue using the apps for free.
